Top Ten – (tips for saving money)

Morning everyone, as we approach the end of a financial year where the self-employed count up their earnings, I thought I would share my top tips for saving money – everyone is always trying to save money but spending lots at the same time!? how is best to keep track of what you are actually spending and popping some pennies away alongside? Here are my top ten tips..

  1. Create an organised folder or a notebook which is for your money, accounts and money based paper work only, keep note and track each month Jan / Feb / Mar – then you can clearly see what happens each month.
  2. Track using your account online, online banking is great to track often, transfer money quickly and see standing orders you have set up. Smart phones provide the apps now for this to work even quicker.
  3. Create standing orders – by creating standing orders say for your insurance, tax or maybe going into another one of your separate saving accounts means that when that day comes around that you set it up for (maybe just after your pay day?) you the never have to think about it. It’s automatic and you can keep up to date with viewing it.
  4. Paper staments, now lots of people do decide to go paper friendly and save the paper this is usually all fine and great if you have online banking but if not I would fully recommend keeping these monthly and keeping them in your folder to clearly see what goes in and out and keep on track.
  5. Check your post – all your post check it, all the bills and letters you don’t want to read deal with it immediatly or the day after dont leave it to grow or worry about it, think; get it sorted out; create an action and put it in place and then it’s done.
  6. Create a car pot, a holiday pot or an ISA or a savings account and then a money pot in which you can spend daily; this will keep you from spending to much or dipping into your savings if you give yourself an allowance you can have.
  7. Always shop for bargains even if you dont need to it all adds up in your clothes, make up and supermarket shopping every pound adds up and can go towards something you want to save for whether it a car/holiday or house.
  8. Think ahout outgoungs every day do i need to spend £3 on a sandwich or can i make one at home with what i already have from the supermarket shop all the little pounds add up.
  9. Write down three things you want to save for they are goals, a car or a house or a holiday and think of these every day; remind your self why you need to save those little pennies and think about how you can add to that pot even if it’s a penny a day.
  10. Try the penny a day challenge, or the spare change challenge so pennies go in everyday or at the end of every week whatever is in your purse goes into the pots. Or another challenge that works very well would be the yearly challenge where you place 1 pence on January the 1st as it’s the first day and 2 pence on January second. Later on in the year on the day 267 you would put in £2.67 if you keep this up over the year you save hundreds in a pot it’s amazing. But you have to remember to keep it up.

Hope this helps some of you little money savers and best of luck, thanks again for reading!

Top Ten – (helpful hacks to get organised)

Hello to my lovely followers this morning we have another top ten, this time requested by a close friend, purely asking “how do you stay organised?” We all have super busy lives, sometimes there are not enough hours in a day, it can become stressful and you can think you never have down time, well here are a few things on how i help myself to keep organised through my busy days..

    1. Use your phone notes: i am always writing in my notes a to do list or something i forgot and need to do and i check it every few hours to remind me if i have forgotton anything.
    2. Reminder app; the app i have is called, RxmindMe this reminder app has a notification unless i click off that i have done that job. Notifications annoy me so i find myself always getting those jobs done quickly.
    3. Calendar on phone; so your calendar if you have an iphone the calendar is great, it can organise work and personal appointments and they are always placed in your front notification scheme letting you know how long it even takes to get there, so for my driving lessons, work and client PT appointments i always pop them in my calendar and swipe down in a morning to check with myself, what do i have on today?
    4. Calendar countdown app; the one i have is called reminder free the symbol is a small clock black and white sign – this app is amazing i love it is counts the days, hours and minutes to an event when counting down to a holiday or birthday this one is fab!
    5. Calendar paper version just incase you lose your phone and all the details on it keep a paper family calendar in the house. You and all the family will then be up to date. Any member can add to this.
    6. Diaries separate versions one for work and one for home and family life appointments etc then you will always feel like you can cope with the two separate parts of your life.
    7. Prepare things the day before such as meals, snack, lunches, clothes you plan to wear, equipment you need to take to work or on your trip the next day is then less stressful.
    8. Keep tidy, everything having its place means you can find things quickly and become less stressed.
    9. Keep as a daily routine and repeat this create structure for you and the family, encourage family to do the same then usually things arent forgotton as you are working as a team.
    10. All chip in you and your family are a team all should work together keeping there own things organised and helping others keep things tidy. Create a whole tidy and stress free household.
    11. And an extra one -Keep a white or black board with most important on, placed on the fridge somewhere it will always be seen. Then most important things will get done!

Hope this helps my busy, stressful, unorganised followers, let me know if it does! Thanks again for reading, following and sharing.

Top Ten – (Tips on Drinking Water)

Good Morning to my beautiful followers today’s post is another top ten, and its on a subject that lots of us stuggle with drinking water!! So hopefully my top ten today will help us keep up this healthy habbit!

    1. Get a gorgeous water bottle, treat yourself to a new one and take it everywhere throughout the day.
    2. Sparkling water, drink sparkling water to add a little fizz, i find it much better than plain water and the same with..
    3. Tonic water, having tonic water and lemon or lime is just fab, i feel like i am in the pub rather than drinking water! Tonic water also helps with cramping due to the added ingredients in it so thats great for athetes like myself. (And if your worried about the extra calories go for the slimline tonic version)
    4. Flavoured water, there are so many versions of flavoured water, still and sparkling versions also i like to get mine from Aldi but they are everywhere so keep a look out having an added strawberry or lemon flavour to the mix help to drink it.
    5. Hot water – its still a form off getting water in you! -so like greeb tea/ normal tea / flavoured tea all low in cals. You may find teas are a diuretic and you will be going to the loo a lot.
    6. Sip every ten mins small amounts, its not about guzzling a litre in one go you will feel bloated and ill but sipping throughout the day will be very affective in hydration, less headaches and being more alert.
    7. Cold water add ice more appealing, plain water is hard to drink so make sure your water is cold and add ice it then is so refreshing to drink you want more.
    8. Refillable water bottle often is alot  fresher than a cup than an open cup,  get a water bottle or filtered bottle it has a much cleaner tatse which is much more appealing.
    9. Set an alarm to remind you every 5 or 10 minutes you can then keep putting the alarm on snooze it will keep reminding you when it goes of sip the water you will consume so much more water.
    10. Label your water bottle so write on it or add sticky labels on the bottle like this say drink by  8am and further down drink this much by 10am and so on. You then know how much water you need to drink.

Thank you again for reading my posts; hope you are enjoying them. Leave a comment below of anything you would like me to write about! I hope this top ten helps you all.

      Terrific Times – UV Video

So as you may already know the The Ultraviolet a local band in Boston Lincolnshire are releasing their new single and video tomorrow!! The new single is called “All I Need Is To Be Needed” i love the song and me and my boyfriend got to be the actors of the video wooo, so here is a personal post on the day of creating the UV video.

So on Saturday the 22nd of October my boyfriend Joe and I, helped a local band called the ultraviolet, they are also our friends who we have grown up with! – they asked me and Joe to do their new video, as they wanted a couple to perform, the lead singer Ben, Joe’s best friend said it had to be us! “aww”how kind but how nerve wracking too.. so of course we agreed even though we had no idea what we was going to do and got quite nervous!

So I got up at 7am to do my hair and make up, it was 1950’s style so i had to do my research and practice earlier in the week, I’m not very good at that type of thing so it took some time and plenty of my pateince.

Then Joe picked me up at 9am and drove us two minutes to get the place where we was filiming. The place was our old school our secondary school, where we both attended, and many of the band did too, and also where we both met and started going out. We had a nosy around the school looking back at our old classrooms, subject rooms and lockers it brought back some nice memories and some weird ones, as lets face it i was a little geek!

We looked at the places we would be acting out our scenes like the hall, corridor, cafe and classrooms. We then started; we were in our school clothes and ties like back in the day, it was quite sweet, we were in the classroom first passing a note, this was lovely scene to act as i spent a lot of time looking at Joe back at school so it brought back memories: it was very funny too with all our mates and a friends mum acting too; we had a giggle and it was nice reminiscing, we also had many bloopers in this scene which i hope one day you all get too see because they were sooo funny!

As we moved on in the day we had to do more scenes like in the corridor and locker area where we had to act, chatting and getting grumpy with each other. (Me and joe never got grumpy with each other at school mostly because we had nothing to argue about) but we had to chat and laugh and i got to smack Joe! This was so good to act; it was very fun and exciting to hit him, bless him i did have to say sorry!

We then had some nicer scenes, like chatting, drinking, smiling, chilling,  to go along with the story.

The last scene the prom scene was very special as me and Joe actually did go to prom together and he made me feel very special again! It was funny as the music and the ultraviolet song is very fast and me and Joe had to slow dance moving round in circles slowing, so when you feel like jumping you can not; this felt very weird, we were trying not to laugh when we were looking at each, we had to redo this take from so many angles so it took quite a long time.

I got to wear my 21st birthday dress for this scene which was nice because its lovely and i never get the wear out of it. We then wrapped it up had some photos and then had to quickly tidy away what a day!

It was a brill thing to do and experience i won’t forget, so i do thank the band for asking us! It was a long and tiring day, starting at 9am till 7pm i was so tired and so hungry!

The Ultraviolet on Facebook check then out. They will soon be releasing their new EP ‘The Tales Of Our Youth’ on March 21st! Pre-orders will be available soon.

I hope we got the video right and the story right for the ULTRAVIOLET boys, thank you for asking us and hope we did you proud.

      Top Ten – (Annoying Anxiety)

So it’s the middle of January time is flying already but blue Monday is approaching, for some of my friends and followers I know worries and sadness does come upon them often. So todays post is focusing on anxiety and some personal tips I would try if suffering from anxiety.

      1. Create a time frame where you allow yourself time to worry later than worry all day. Say to yourself – “I will think about that at 5pm till 5.20pm only”

      2. Make a worry list/diary of key worries, and times you worry most and then really think about each one and relate to number 3 below.

      3. Think carefully about each worry… is it solvable? If yes, how can you act upon it immediately? Can you tell someone? Can you plan a method you will take to act on it? If no, why? When can it be resolved? How can I help it? What actions can help relive my worry or work towards reliving it? These need brainstorming, you need to make ideas and plans to help accomplish. Try and take the worry over with a plan, “it doesn’t matter anymore as this is what I am going to do” change something you know needs changing make a strategy to help move, overcome and beat that worry.

      4. Accept uncertainty. Once you have accepted that maybe not everything will be resolved, and once you understand you can’t always control something, and really that’s what life is like, you can’t control it all if you could life would not be as exciting, and hard work! am I right? You can’t predict the future you can’t control thousands of ways why would you want to? If you knew something was going to fail you wouldn’t try, you wouldn’t tackle something and help yourself become a better person. Every time you do something and try and overcome something, you as person grow and your confidence its best to try and not succeed than never try at all.

      5. Do you predict bad things, are you a negative person? Change the way you think. Focus on the positive and the good things. If there is a small chance your worry would come true what is the worst that can happen? how would you deal with it? And what would you do after? Would you actually get over it? Ask yourself these questions.

      6. Spend less time around negative people, who make you anxious avoid them, surround yourself with happy and bubbly people who make you forget your worries and focus on happier thoughts and times.

      7. Focus on present day and present time, not what is happening in 4 years’ time etc. you are in the now, in the today so make this the best minute, hour and day, you possibly can.

      8. Acknowledge the worry, write it down, think about it, plan a strategy and a way to move on. 1,2,3,4. Do this for every worry then your thoughts become organised and you become less stressed as well as less worried.

      9. Write one good thing down that happens every day so at the end of the day in your diary write the best thing that made you happy that day and focus on things that make you smile. Including others in this can spread happiness

      10. Create a positive list, a list of the great, and wonderful things you want to do in the coming days, weeks and years focus on them.
And an extra one always smile, when you are smiling you can trick the mind into thinking and feeling happier, creating a happier you. Smile at a random person it may make their day too!

      Keep positive my lovely followers,

                                    much love J x

      Baby Bonnie

So again you have asked for a personal post so here we have a post on my baby Bonnie. She is now part of the family and before you get too excited its a car!

      My very first car!!

My boyfriend past his test a few months back and we got him a car and he is now driving all over and loving it. I have never ever wanted to drive but now he is and my sister is learning so i have been inspired and encouraged to do it!

So i have bought my first car and now that sure is a kick up the ass to think ‘come on you can do this’.  As it is sat there looking all pretty i just want to be driving little Bonnie.

So if you have gathered its called Bonnie its a Citereon C3 convertible, its a 1.6 and Petrol the colour is very bright red and i have never really like the colour red but i couldnt resist this cute car.

I have never wanted to drive as a family friend died years ago and ive had a fear of ever driving and being in control of something that could harm another person. I know its rather deep but thats how i have always thought and i still do i get so so very scared but i have thought a lot about this and made myself exceptions to help me drive.

One being its an automatic. So by doing an automatic only test you have less to think about in the car so you can focus on what is outside which is what I prefer i want to be fully aware of other people rather than thinking about my clutch changing gear and stalling. So im very excited and i had my first automatic lesson last week which was actually great!

I managed to drive down some back roads and do some sharp corners, i managed to protect us from a hazard and i pulled off and pulled out well. For a first lesson i was impressed by myself and the main thing was i kept calm.

I also have given myself the no time limit rule, i have said to myself there is no need to rush, there is nothing i am aiming for, apart from to eventually drive safely, i dont need to be driving before a certain date etc, my family will help me commute and learn so there is no pressure. I will just take it slow and enjoy it, as i repeat this to myself all the time.

I have been out a few times practicing now with my mum and i have managed to do the A16 which is quite a busy fast road and a roundabout and also i have bay parked. These are a big deal i know, but to me they are!

So i am getting there slowly but surely i will make it. I have a little more faith in myself now, dont get me wrong everytime i get in the car as a driver or a passenger i feel awful i get scared and wonder if driving is for me but i like to get over my fears and accomplsh things and i think now is the time.

I have began revising from the app my iphone and from two of the AA driving school books. And i have my second lesson this afternoon so wish me luck!! I can do this!!

Who else drives? Who else is learning to drive? Who has just passed their test?

leave me tips and advice below please, i need all the help possible!

Thank you for reading a personal post again, and wish me luck with my baby Bonnie!

                                  Much love J xx
