More Magazines

Morning followers.. so since January i have been receiving a monthly subscription to the ‘women running’ magazine. My auntie got it for me as a christmas present and it sure is a brill pressie! She has now changed my subscription to ‘Runner’s world’ of course mine are all surrounding running but I am thinking of getting women’s health next time we shall see any recommendations?!
I love getting my new magazine each month, i love to learn and i love to research and read about things that interest me, a magazine all about running all about sports clothes, other people like me sharing their stories its perfect for me to have a read in the evening a flick through when i have a spare minute.

My dad when he was younger had a subscription to ‘athletics weekly’ and he collected years and years worth of magazines, but he would star in them so that was much cooler and interesting!

The magazine i have at the moment is awesome i love seeing what other people are doing what type of techniques and styles, and strategies they take, and learning from them really.

Here are some pictures below of what the magazines look like and what they offer inside. I know many of us prefer to watch tele and youtube now a days but if you like me and love a good magazine then get your subscription in, if done over months or year/s it can also save you money.

check out the site of the magazine i like -www.womensrunninguk.co.uk

Below are a few of the things the magazines touch on –

  • training tips
  • health and nutrition adivice
  • events in certain areas
  • inspiration quotes and stories from other people and fitness friends
  • new fitness gear and clothing
  • exercises ideas and tip, and examples
  • also new fitness gadgets
  • lots more too

I gain so many ideas and knowledge from the magazines and something so different in each, all my family read different things, my mum reads loads of books but im not into that so a mag does me fine!

So have a look about have a little research and see what you fancy, you can by them once have a trial and see and then buy them and order them in bulk when you fancy a full subscription but i fully recommend it, especially for someone wanting to learn more, read more and grow their mind of knowledge whatever the topic maybe, there is a magazine to match!

  • What magazines do you like?
  • Are there any you can recommend me?
  • Any magazines out there you would show and share to fellow fitness finatics and bloggers please leave a comment below

Thanks for reading and let me know what you enjoy reading to below!

Fab FRAMFEST #4SleepsToGo

As many of you know my wonderful mother who is like superwomen and is putting on a mini festival every year for the past 5 years now. And now I say mini but I don’t know why because it keeps growing every year!

Hundreds of people attended last year which was amazing. These greatest thing about it is that my mother does not earn a penny from doing this work she gives it all to charity, so admirable!
Some of you may have heard of it, some not, so here is the low down the day is amazing but I am biased but it consists of around 8 acts/bands/performances; ranging from bands like The Vigilantes, The Ultraviolet, Fusion, Scapa Flow , The Strellies ,Status Quote, to solo acts such as Matty Haynes, Phoebe Ophila to acts like 50 sniffs and Stuart playing the ukulele. The music ranges from all years and genres fitting for all the family.

The field is based in Frampton, hence ‘FRAM’ fest, it’s the field very next St Marys Frampton church and the whole thing is organised by its committee. No one earns a penny it goes all into the church. The field is full of things to do also while listening to the music it changes every year but most of the times things such as, a hotdog and burger stand spend the day with us and also, a sweet stall, potato chip stall, curry, stir fry and Mexican style food stall, a licensed bar, a forever living stall, a vintage clothing and furniture stalls, fair rides, bouncy slides, skinners ice-cream and I’m not joking so much more for a little field and festival it’s a rather big turnout!

So the people, the people make the day, the bands, all the help, the committee and of course you guys that come along adding the money to the church and for charity you make the day. The sun shines and everyone bring picnics, blankets, chairs and alcohol and spend the day from around 1pm to 8pm.
The doors open at 1pm and the bands begin at 2pm so you have time to get down, ready and settle ready to watch all the performances. When I think about how much there is to do, it would be a great day even without the bands everyone is chatting and having fun and it brings families out and friends together. It fit all age groups all day long. The day does finish around 8pm usually with a DJ with fab music to get you ready for a night out after maybe? It’s always the last Saturday in June every year and this year it will be on the 24th June 2017.

Ticket prices so this year the price will be for an adult £5 for a children £1.50. Remember all the money goes to charity so you doing a great cause and in trade for a fabulous day at FRAMFEST

Make sure you keep up to date with it all on FRAMFEST Facebook page and twitter page and keep a look out on the new website, for any new posts and surprises of what may occur on the day.

Crazy Cramps

Hey guys! Today’s topic is cramps. Who suffers from cramp? Who gets that’s weird sensation and sometimes terrible pain in a particular muscle? I know as an athlete I do and today I’m here to discuss it all.

A muscle cramp is a strong, painful contraction or tightening of a muscle that comes on suddenly and lasts from a few seconds to several minutes. It often occurs in the legs.
Nighttime leg cramps are usually sudden spasms, or tightening, of muscles in the calf. The muscle cramps can sometimes happen in the thigh or the foot. They often occur just as you are falling asleep or waking up, I suffer terribly with these!

Top Tips

  1. Cold compress – wrap an ice pack in a towel and hold on to muscle for 15 minutes at a time.
  2. Make sure you are eating healthy foods (especially if you are pregnant) that are rich in calcium, potassium, and magnesium.
  3. Ride a bike or stationary bike to condition and stretch your muscles.
  4. Don’t suddenly increase the amount of exercise you get. Increase your exercise a little each week.
  5. Repeat this cold compress every 2 hours if you can for a day or two.
  6. Drink water this is usually the key cause of cramps being dehydration so keep your water up up up.
  7. Deep heat my second love! – massage the warm/hot cream into muscle where you had cramp to help remove the tightness and lactic acid massage morning and night.
  8. Or any form of cream/moisturiser just to make massaging easier massage evening and morning helping blood flow and release of tightness and lactic acid.
  9. Massage roughly  for 5 minutes, using thumbs and fingers create firm strokes.
  10. Hot baths – help relax and soak the muscle the heat can help ease the muscles.
  11. Cold baths – or ice baths: these can help repair the muscles, they can help after training to help muscle recover quicker.
  12. Stretching – stretch post warm up or work out always the muscles must go a through a thorough warm up, and stretching session to help prevent injury and cramps.
  13. Don’t suddenly increase the amount of exercise you do. Increase your exercise a little each week.
  14. To release cramp you can walk around, or jiggle your leg.
  15. Drink plenty of fluids and Sports drinks, such as Gatorade, will often help leg cramps.

Hope this helps anyone suffering and have a great day!

Pfft. Periods.

Hello ladies now this post is for my girls today; men you may want to give this one a miss or give it a read to help your girl out at her time in need!

Now we all know we need periods, us women have these periods for a reason we are here to reproduce and have babies and we need periods but helping them throughout our lives is what we need also so here are my top tips and info  for helping treat that painfully annoying period time.

  1. Eat foods that have been shown to help reduce PMS symptoms such as – nuts, seeds, nut butter, soy beans, spinach, lentils, chick pleas, dark chocolate, raspberries, ginger, cinnamon, bananas and blueberries, reach food the good carbs the ones full of nutrition rather reaching for the sweet and chips that won’t make us feel better at all.
  2. Lay on your back and lift you feet together in the air straight, this receives cramping.
  3. Exercise even a little walk can help relieve hormonal cramping, bloating and headaches.
  4. Try yoga or relaxation exercises to help with your mood.
  5. Sleep lots and make sure your getting at least 8 hours a night.
  6. Avoid red-bull, alcohol and caffeine at your time of the month, make sure your body is relaxed and heart rate not too high.
  7. Try some supplements that can help with your periods such as, magnesium, vitamin B-6, calcium with vitamin D and folic acid.
  8. Use a hot water bottle and pain killers to ease pain and cramps.
  9. Drink herbal teas, like camomile tea it helps with the tummy pain and cramps.
  10. Let your skin breathe sometimes the skin gets spots and oily let it breathe don’t wear make up, try a relaxing face mask.
  11. Try and free up the days you have your period so you have less to do so you can 1. relax but you can 2. not stress about anything; the key aim is to keep everything calm.
  12. Exercise lightly don’t put your body through strenuous activity if you are an athlete or someone who trains high amounts bring it down a little but for a couple of days usually days 1- 3 train and exercise by all means it does help but light activity.
  13. Of course drink plenty of water keep hydrated!
  14. Use an app. Use a period or fertile app to track your periods the way you feel on those day, know when your next period is and what you have planned, stay organised and on top of it.
  15. Wash lots, a hot bath usually helps the draw the blood and relax you, this leads into another find ways to relax loads, and listen to music, or watch netflix, find ways to chill out and relax your body.

We may not be able to stop them but helping them we can! Any tricks or tips you have too please leave a comment below and share your ideas.
Hope this has helped some people too! Thanks for reading.
